Terms and Conditions
Thank you for considering Ace A-Level Maths. Before you enrol, please read these terms. They set out what we will do for your child, what we need from you, what you pay, and — importantly — how and when you can cancel and get your money back.
We have tried to write them in plain English. If anything is unclear, email support@acealevelmaths.com and ask before you enrol.
1Who we are
These terms apply to the supply of the Examiner Method programme by Ace A-Level Maths ("we", "us", "our"). Our website is acealevelmaths.com and you can contact us at support@acealevelmaths.com, which we monitor every working day.
2Definitions
- "The Programme" — the Examiner Method, our sixteen-week A-Level Mathematics programme.
- "You" — the parent, guardian or other adult who enrols a student and pays the Fee.
- "The Student" — the young person receiving the tuition.
- "The Fee" — the amount payable for the Programme, as set out in clause 8.
- "Materials" — all teaching content, recordings, question banks, papers and written feedback we supply.
3Acceptance
By enrolling, you confirm that you have read, understood and agree to these terms. If you do not agree to any part of them, please do not enrol. We will send you a copy of these terms and our Privacy Policy by email before you pay, so that you can keep them.
4Eligibility
- The Programme is for students in Year 12 or Year 13 studying A-Level Mathematics with Edexcel, AQA or OCR.
- Where the Student is under 18, they may take part only with the involvement of a parent or guardian. The person paying must be 18 or over and the payment account must be in their name.
- You enter into this contract on your own behalf, not the Student's. You are responsible for the Fee.
5Enrolment and how the contract is formed
- You submit an application through our website.
- If the Programme looks suitable for the Student, we invite you to a call. An invitation is not an offer of a place.
- A contract is formed only when we send you written confirmation that a place is confirmed, after payment or a payment plan has been set up. Until then no place is reserved.
- We may decline any application without giving a reason. If we decline after you have paid, we refund you in full.
- Once enrolled on a particular cohort, a place cannot be transferred to a different programme or a different student without our written agreement.
6What the Programme includes
Over sixteen weeks the Student receives:
- Two live online classes each week of ninety minutes — 48 hours of live teaching in total.
- Sixteen pieces of work marked by us: fourteen weekly papers and two full papers sat under timed conditions, each annotated against the relevant exam board mark scheme and returned with a written mark-loss report.
- A weekly live marking clinic.
- Pre-class videos and a question bank of exam questions indexed by the mark they test.
- A written progress note to you at the half-way point of the Programme, showing the Student's baseline mark against their current mark.
- Access to recordings and Materials until the Student's A-Level examination in the relevant series.
Class days and times are confirmed with you at enrolment.
7Marked work and turnaround
Work submitted by 8pm on a Sunday is returned marked by the end of the following Wednesday. Work submitted later is marked in the following week's cycle.
Marking is the core of the Programme. If the Student stops submitting work we will contact you, but we cannot mark work that is not submitted, and no refund arises from unsubmitted work.
8Fees and payment
£1,950 for the sixteen-week Programme, or three monthly instalments of £650. The total is identical — we do not charge extra for paying in instalments. This is the total price you pay; there are no additional charges.
- Payment is taken by Direct Debit or by card, through our payment providers.
- Where you pay by instalments, the first is taken before the first class and the remaining two at monthly intervals.
- Please tell us at least five working days before a due date if your payment details change.
- If an instalment fails, we will tell you and give you seven days to pay. If it remains unpaid after that, we may suspend access to classes and marking until the account is up to date. Suspended weeks are not made up.
- Where an instalment remains unpaid more than 30 days after its due date, we may treat the balance of the Fee as immediately due, and may recover it together with reasonable costs of recovery.
- We may change the Fee for future cohorts at any time. A change never affects a Programme you are already enrolled on.
8.1 If you disagree with a charge. Please contact us first at support@acealevelmaths.com. We will look into it and reply within five working days. Nothing in these terms affects your right to raise a dispute with your bank or card provider, or your rights under section 75 of the Consumer Credit Act 1974 — we simply ask for the chance to resolve it directly, because we usually can and it is faster for you.
9Your right to cancel
You have 14 days to cancel this contract without giving any reason. The period ends 14 days after the day the contract is concluded — the day we send your written confirmation.
9.1 How to cancel. Tell us clearly that you wish to cancel, by email to support@acealevelmaths.com. You may use the form in clause 24, but you do not have to. To meet the deadline it is enough to send your message before the 14 days expire.
9.2 Effect of cancelling. We refund all payments received from you, by the same method you used, without undue delay and no later than 14 days after we are told of your decision. You pay no fee for the refund.
9.3 If you ask us to start during the 14 days. Because the Programme begins promptly, we ask you at enrolment to request expressly that we begin during the cancellation period. If you make that request and then cancel within the 14 days, you pay an amount in proportion to what has been supplied up to the point you tell us, compared with the full coverage of the contract. We refund the balance. If you do not make that request, we will not begin until the 14 days have passed.
9.4 How the proportionate amount is worked out. The Programme front-loads a substantial part of its value into the first two weeks, because that is when the diagnostic paper is set, marked and returned with a written mark-loss report, and when the individual learning plan is produced. For the purposes of clause 9.3 the parties agree that the Fee is allocated as follows:
| Element | Share of the Fee |
|---|---|
| Enrolment, the week-one diagnostic paper, its examiner marking and the written mark-loss report | £295 |
| The remaining sixteen weeks of teaching, marking and materials | £1,655, accruing evenly across the sixteen weeks |
So if you cancel within the 14 days having asked us to begin, you pay £295 where the diagnostic has been marked and returned, plus £103.44 for each week of the Programme that has begun. We refund the rest.
9.5 After the 14 days. Once the cancellation period has ended, the Fee is not refundable, in whole or in part — including where the Student withdraws, stops attending, stops submitting work, or their circumstances change. This does not affect your rights under clauses 10, 17 or 21, or any other legal right you have.
9.6 Instalments continue. Where you pay by instalments and the cancellation period has ended, the remaining instalments remain payable on their due dates whether or not the Student continues to attend. Cancelling a Direct Debit does not end your obligation to pay the Fee.
10If we cancel or change the Programme
- If we cancel before the Programme begins, you receive a full refund.
- If we stop delivering the Programme part-way through, you receive a proportionate refund for the part not delivered.
- We may make minor changes to content, timings or delivery to improve the Programme or reflect changes to the specification. We will tell you about them.
- If we need to make a material change to what was described in clause 6, we will tell you and you may cancel and receive a proportionate refund for the part not yet delivered.
11Missed classes
Every class and clinic is recorded and stays available for the rest of the Programme. We do not refund or credit missed classes and cannot provide individual catch-up sessions in their place. Where we are unable to deliver a live class, we will reschedule it or provide an equivalent recording as soon as we reasonably can.
12No guarantee of results
We do not guarantee any particular grade, mark or examination outcome, and nothing on our website or in any conversation should be read as such a guarantee. Results depend on the Student's own work, their starting point, the papers set, and grade boundaries set by the awarding body — none of which is within our control.
We do commit to supplying the Programme described in clause 6 with reasonable care and skill, and to reporting the Student's mark to you with each piece of marked work so progress can be seen objectively.
13Intellectual property
- All Materials are our intellectual property or used by us under licence, and are protected by copyright.
- They are licensed to the Student for their own personal study only.
- They must not be copied, shared, uploaded, resold, published or distributed to anyone else, or used to create derivative works.
14Access and login details
Login details and links to classes, recordings and Materials are personal to the Student and must not be shared. If they are shared, we may withdraw access, and no refund will be due.
15Recordings, images and testimonials
- We record classes so that a student who misses one can catch up. Recordings are shared only with students in that cohort and their parents.
- Students must not record, screenshot or stream classes themselves.
- A student who prefers not to appear may keep their camera off and use the chat. Tell us at enrolment.
- We will never use a recording, image or video of your child in advertising or promotion unless you give separate written consent, which you may withdraw at any time. Consent is never a condition of enrolling.
- If you give us a testimonial, we will ask separately before publishing it, and you can tell us to take it down at any time.
16Who teaches
Teaching and marking are ordinarily delivered by our practising A-Level Maths examiner. We may use another suitably qualified teacher where necessary, and will tell you if that happens for more than an occasional session. We do not guarantee the availability of any particular individual for any particular class.
17Safeguarding
We take the welfare of students seriously. Classes are recorded, contact with students is through channels you can see, and we will share information where there is a serious concern about a child's welfare — including, where necessary, with the appropriate authorities.
18Technical requirements
The Student needs a compatible device, a reliable internet connection and any software we specify. We are not responsible for technical problems at your end that prevent access, and no refund arises from them. Tell us if there is a persistent problem and we will help where we can.
19Student conduct
- Classes are online but the same standards apply as in any classroom.
- Students are expected to treat other students, their families and our staff with courtesy, in class, by email and by message.
- Students should keep their camera on when reasonably asked, unless clause 15 applies.
- We may remove a Student whose behaviour disrupts others' learning, or who breaches clauses 13 or 14. Where we do, no refund is due.
20Privacy
How we handle your data and your child's is set out in our Privacy Policy, which forms part of these terms.
21Our responsibility to you
If we fail to comply with these terms we are responsible for loss or damage you suffer that is a foreseeable result of our breach. We are not responsible for loss or damage that is not foreseeable.
We do not exclude or limit our liability where it would be unlawful to do so. That includes liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, and for any breach of your statutory rights under the Consumer Rights Act 2015 — including the right to a service supplied with reasonable care and skill.
22Complaints
Email support@acealevelmaths.com. We acknowledge within two working days and respond substantively within fourteen days. We would always rather fix a problem than lose a student over it.
23General
- Governing law. These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales. You and we both submit to the non-exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales. If you live in Scotland or Northern Ireland you may bring proceedings in your own country's courts.
- Assignment. Neither party may transfer their rights or obligations without the other's written agreement, except that we may transfer this contract to another business, in which case we will tell you and your rights will not be affected.
- Waiver. If we do not insist that you do something you are required to do, or delay in taking steps against you, that does not mean we have given up those rights.
- Severability. If any provision is found to be unlawful or unenforceable, the rest continues in force.
- Amendment. We may update these terms for future enrolments. The terms that apply to you are those in force when your place was confirmed, and we will not change them mid-Programme to your disadvantage.
